Near the Masters Golf Course!!
Hello MSUDog,
Got an email from you, wanting to know where we all are from I guess??. I'm near the golf course where they play the Masters Tournament in a few days or so. Love to play pool, and Watch Deal or No Deal, Who Wants to be a Millionaire......love to keep some type of stats, trying to figure out who's going to win the ballgame.......college football, basketball, NFL, MLB.......and the Killer, Jerry Lee playing his piano. I am on Social Security, retired a few years ago.
Let me quit this email.......Hope this will be enough info for you all.......

Foxden Forum Meeting?
I'm an old man with a new gambling problem. That is, I'm 65, have been placing bets large and small much of my adult life, and haven't gotten rich. I'm just about even. Should I give up?
I've retired from a career as a writer, editor and public relations consultant in my hometown Seattle. I've lived in such diverse places as New York and Utah. I've seen much of the world. More to the point, I've read this whole freakin' thread!
And even more to the point, I enjoy the Den immensely. I've stopped posting my plays not just because I hit a losing streak a few weeks ago, but more because I had no place pretending to be a proficient capper. I'm just not. I'm just a sports fan who likes to make the games more interesting. And with what I find here, I can win enough to keep coming back.
So, Denmates, how about a meeting? Like a get-together weekend in Vegas? I "discussed" the idea with another member a while back (via PMs), and we both like the idea of a dinner "convention" sort of thing in Vegas---a chance for Foxden members to meet face-to-face. Maybe we even could sneak Friday in from Argentina!

I just realized that I never formally introduced myself on this thread. So, here we go. . .
I live in Fairfield, Connecticut with my girlfriend and our two pets (a dog named Dallas and a cat named Moby). I grew up in the small town of Tolland which is located approximately 20 miles east of Hartford.
I graduated from Elon College and, thereafter, received my J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. I currently practice law at a private firm located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. I specialize in both civil litigation and criminal defense.
My true passion is handicapping which has proven to be a good source of income over the years. I focus my attention on the three major sports--baseball, football and basketball--although I occasionally look at hockey.
This forum has allowed me to develop several friendships over the years. . .Mike and Bill immediately come to mind. I am forever grateful for everything these two gentlemen have done for me.
Like so many others, my father is battling cancer and remains a true source of inspiration to me. In short, he is my hero. He was a CPA at one of the "Big 6" for 30 years and retired with my mom to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. My father's mathematical acumen and ability to understand and utilize complex formulas has been invaluable to developing my handicapping database. My thoughts and prayers are always with the families and friends who have been touched by this terrible disease.
Well, that's about it. I hope everyone is doing well. Let's have a great weekend!

I wish I had a little more in common with Osk in handicapping acumen, but there are some things to mention........I, too am Jeff .....born 64 years ago in Bridgeport, Ct (the town about which P.T. Barnum once said "everything south of New York is "Bridgeport"). graduated Warren Harding HS in '59, then UConn in '64. The Huskies were just beginning to forge a CBB history, and Toby Kimball was their best. I was close friends with Rollie Sheldon, who went on to pitch for the Yankess; my sister became president of his fan club and when she got terminally ill with cancer, Rollie vistied her every week at Sloan Ketting Hosptal. Great guy and proved not all Yankees suck.
I loved math, and went on to become an underwiter with Aetna in Hartford until 1985 and moved to the DC area; married with 4 daughters, the oldest of which is a TV producer (Dr. Phil, etc) and an avid sports fan. She talked her way onto the set of the Fox pregame Sunday FB show, helping to keep Howie Long in line and spot during game.
I now live in Reisterstown, MD - home of Cal Ripken. I work for UnitedHealthcare and now work from home 4 days a week. Love the Forum and only want to get to the HOF to reconnect with others not posting here any more.
I had major prostate cancer surgery in 2001, have had other health battles since, but today seem as stable as possible with a promising outlook that I check on every 6 months or so
I've found out that several of the Den members are "neighbors" and I hope to connect. GL all.

Pretty cool!
Awesome to read about all of the members on here as it helps put an actual person with a screen name.
My name is Wade and I live in Dallas, Texas. I'm 30. Ever since I was 14 years old, I have gambled, beginning with sneaking out of church before it was over, running down to the Circle J gas station and buying lottery tickets. They didn't check id's. Ran back to church before the end of the last song and now $3 richer. Love betting the ponies and and playing poker. Have always loved wagering on sports by feel, but have only recently started actually researching the games and finding information. It has helped a lot and now I'm a smarter wagerer, betting on games I otherwise would have never looked at, but now they make the most sense. I have never bet out of my means, or had any trouble stopping when needed to. Funny, I have actually gotten more joy posting winning picks and seeing them come through than actually the money made from betting them myself. I hate posting losers and have a strong drive to get better and better as a capper. My strong suits are College and Pro football and College and Pro basketball. I have found that betting on the professional level is much more challenging than than the college level. Looking forward into diving into baseball this year, so I will be reading all of the write-ups and tips in the near future.
It's amazing that I have a girlfiend, but I do. It's amazing that I have a full time job, but I do. Luckily, I have made it far enough at my company that I can do "research and posting" while also actually getting work stuff done. Planning a trip to Vegas in August and my favorite TV show is Curb. I have now written too much.
