NC State Wolfpack
Road to the Sweet 16:

First Round vs. No. 14 seed Chattanooga: W 64-45 (Chattanooga +26 | Under 120.5)
Second Round vs. No. 6 seed Tennessee: W 79-72 (NC State -4 | Over 140.5)
Wes Moore’s team looks to be back to its midseason form, with comfortable wins through the opening rounds.

NC State built a huge lead against Tennessee at home by getting out in transition and forcing the Lady Vols into some tough shots in the second quarter. After being down 23-17 with a few minutes left in the first quarter, the Wolfpack closed the half on a 32-8 run to take an 18-point lead into the break.

The Volunteers were able to climb all the way back behind huge second-half performances from Rickea Jackson and Tomari Key, and trailed NC State by 2 with 3:44 to go. From there Wolfpack guard Aziah James made back to back clutch buckets and the Wolfpack shot free throws the rest of the way to a comfortable win.

Stanford Cardinal
Road to the Sweet 16:

First Round vs. No. 15 seed Norfolk State: W 79-50 (Norfolk State +35.5 | Over 126.5)
Second Round vs. No. 7 seed Iowa State: W 87-81 (OT) (Iowa State +13 | Over 141.5)
Stanford was taken to the brink (pun intended) as the Cardinal was once again staring at a fourth quarter deficit at home in the 2nd round of the WNCAA tournament. Cameron Brink was in foul trouble the majority of the game, and in her absence, Kiki Irafen delivered an absolute gem of a performance. Irafen poured in 41 points on 16/30 from the field and pulled down 16 boards in Stanford’s win against Iowa State. In the fourth and in overtime, the Cardinal finally got some contributions from their guards, as Brooke Demetre knocked down two of the biggest threes of her life, one to take a 2 point lead at the end of regulation, and one to ice the game away in the overtime period.

Offense is peaking at the right time for both these teams, and while we have seen NC State struggle to guard players in that Kiki Irafen role, Stanford has struggled with athletic guards. I think we see a 70-68 type of game with plenty of threes, free throws and tough shot-making.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
Road to the Sweet 16:

First Round vs. No. 13 seed UC Irvine: W 75-56 (UC Irvine +23 | Over 127.5)
Second Round vs. No. 5 seed Utah: W 77-66 (Gonzaga -1.5 | Under 144.5)
The Gonzaga Bulldogs got off to shaky starts in both of their first two games at home.

They trailed UC Irvine by double digits early in the opening round and were down seven early to Utah. The Utes — after having a disaster second quarter against South Dakota State — did the same in round two as their offense dried up after the first 10 minutes at Gonzaga. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs proceeded to make their next nine 3-point attempts.

Shooting 12-of-22 from 3 on the night is a nice recipe for surviving and advancing, but they'll have to replicate that shooting and clean up on the defensive end against a balanced Texas team.

Texas Longhorns
Road to the Sweet 16:

First Round vs. No. 16 seed Drexel: W 82-42 (Texas -34.5 | Over 121.5)
Second Round vs. No. 8 seed Alabama: W 65-54 (Alabama +15.5 | Under 139.5)
Texas looked incredible defensively per usual. The No. 3-ranked team in the country in terms of defensive rating, the Longhorns held both teams under 25% from 3.

Freshman sensation Madison Booker dished out 14 assists in the first round and poured in 21 points in the second round in front of Texas legend Kevin Durant, who had high praise for the rookie at Texas also wearing No. 35.

This is a super interesting matchup, and while Texas is absolutely the better team, Gonzaga does have the personnel to make this very close.

Texas is 1-3 this year when giving up nine or more 3s and 27-1 when holding teams to less than nine 3s. Gonzaga averages more than nine made 3s per game. If Texas doesn’t come out focused on stopping the 3, this could get dangerous for the Longhorns. With the small amount of 3s they take per game, they aren’t the most equipped team to play from behind. I would expect Gonzaga to run a lot of zone, force Texas to shoot 3s and do its best to rebound.
