once again i don't really like the bowl games but i see a spot worth trying, as giving Bud Carson that extra time to prepare plus signing him up for more seasons gives him extra motivation to do well as he just might be the coach in waiting. Carson's defense slipped some this season from 4th overall in 2013 to 17th this season. The Hokies pass defense is turning in another solid season allowing only 187 ypg on 47% completions, give me the Hokies as they are trying to avoid it's 1st losing season since 1992 & yes i am a Beamer fan, hope everyone has a good saturday.....

the Pirates will be taking on Maine (Chico's) Black Bears in the final tune up before Big East play & it will be the 1st game without freshman sensation Whitehead & his 11.9 ppg, but they do play 10 that avg 8 minutes or more a game. The Hall has gone 8-2 in the 1st & 7-3 over, but only 2-2 o/u at home. I will see how much Whitehead will be missed out of the gate & hope that the BB's hang tough for awhile here....

interesting spot today as the Hoosiers invade MSG to take on the Hoyas. Indiana has gone 9-2 in the 1st & on a 6 game run with the over going 9-1, while the Hoyas have gone 3-4 o/u with all the overs being their highest # to date, i'm just hoping the bright lights of MSG will help here ....

i see that Roger Ayers is one of the officials today, he ranks right up there with Valentine & Hess. Ayers has most conservative whistle of 349 D-I refs: -3.6 fouls per 40 all by himself
a quick turn around rematch today. Georgia State took the first game on Dec. 4 in Atlanta, 72-48. The Panthers backcourt of R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow combined for 43 points in that contest. The Phoenix has played well since that night, winning four out of five games. The lone blemish was its last outing in the championship game of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic when UC-Irvine made a last-second shot to win 72-70. The Phoenix are 7-2 on the year in the 1st , 4-0 at home with all the wins by 16 or more for the game, they did drop the last two on a neutral court in Vegas. The team’s strong start to the season is due in large part to great starts to games. Green Bay has led at least 6-0 seven times, and on three different occasions has held the opponent off the scoreboard for at least six minutes (East Carolina - 7-0, 12:12; Florida Gulf Coast - 15-0, 12:28; Morehead State - 12-0, 13:34). In the first halves of the team’s wins, Green Bay is allowing just 24.3 points on 32 percent shooting....

the last minute of the half was interesting to say the least with loose balls & a technical to end the half, still a loser, this time it was the Phoenix who had the drought
