NFL- Officials

Over the years I have seen way too many games become decided by official's calls or non calls in the NFL. When they added the red flag coach's challange, many thought this would reset the apple cart, when a questionable call was made. As a sports gambler, I was all for the play review, but in retrospect, all I see it doing is slowing down the game with many bad calls still left standing and reeking, resulting in many cases of continued cases of yellow and red flag fever. Part of the problem is the leagues never ending rule changes to add more offence and fan interest resulting in the officials having to be a walking rule book. I also think that the present same old-same old system that the NFL uses for their officals's is very antiquated. Unlike other pro sports the Zebra's are mostly part time and there is a lot of politics included in who gets awarded an NFL Zebra position including what crew gets scheduled to key games. As we have seen it is not always the best Zebra crews working the playoffs and Super Bowl games.
The NFL in its haste to make the game better, has apparently overlooked improving it's own on field policemen and instead of increasing fan interest, it is in many cases driving them away, with inept, chicken shiet calls and way too many one sided penalties on one team. Fans should be talking about the games high points and great plays when a game ends and not about the Zebra's inept calls, non calls, replays and one sided and key game penalties. The NFL has to improve in this area or it will get a lot worse before it gets better. When the regular season , and play off games and the Super Bowl's and their ads start losing viewer's is apparently the only time they will start to take notice. Until than, sports gambler's, be prepared for more of the same. And it sucks big time. IMHO.

Solutions

1) Replays need to be done upstairs, not looking in some small hole on the field.

2) It should be looked at by 2 refs. They both need to agree to change the play on the field.

3) The fastest most destructive game on the planet must have refs who are in great shape. Not some 53 year old lawyer. How about some ex-athletes. Any sport will do.

very well stated ragtop. after a big game nobody wants to talk about the refs. after the super bowl the most talked about area is the refs. bad clock management for seattle and dropped passes contributed as well. just leaves a fishy taste in your mouth.

good job on your hockey picks ragtop, anything on tap for tonight.

good luck
