The Men In Blue
By Victor King
Playbook.com

The 'Man in Blue' in Baseball. In no other sport does the referee or umpire have such an impact on OVER / UNDERS. If you're not studying the OU tendencies of these men 'behind the dish', then you shouldn't be betting on MLB Totals Plays. Here's the current Top 'OVER' and Top 'UNDER' Umpires in Major League Baseball after two months of the season.

Our King Creole service does NOT handicap or release plays in Major League Baseball 'Game Ones' of a series. Why not? Because umpiring crew information (and home plate umps) are not released in Game One of a series until approximately ONE hour before first pitch. That's just not enough time to handicap and release a play. We prefer to hold off for the Game Twos... Game Threes... and Game Fours of a series. Here's the current list of the Top 'OVER' and Top 'UNDER' Umpires in Major League Baseball.

Top 'OVER' Umpires (8 games or more):

CHRIS CONROY: 7-1 O/U... 13.9 runs-per-game
SEAN BARBER: 11-2 O/U... 10.6 runs-per-game
LANCE BARRETT: 9-2 O/U... 10.6 runs-per-game
JOE WEST: 9-2 O/U... 10.5 runs-per-game
ERIC COOPER: 8-2 O/U... 11.0 runs-per-game
JERRY LAYNE: 8-2 O/U... 9.6 runs-per-game
CHRIS SEGALL 8-2 O/U... 11.9 runs-per-game
TODD TICHENOR: 7-2 O/U... 10.1 runs-per-game
TOBY BASNER: 6-2 O/U... 10.1 runs-per-game
PAUL NAUERT: 8-3 O/U... 8.5 runs-per-game
LAZ DIAZ: 7-3 O/U: 8.5 runs-per-game
MANNY GONZALEZ: 7-3 O/U... 8.5 runs-per-game

Top 'UNDER' Umpires (8 games or more):

DOUG EDDINGS: 1-10 O/U... 5.3 runs-per-game
CRIS FAGAN: 2-10 O/U... 5.8 runs-per-game
