 10-2-13 Hockey thread, picks, info and a whole lot more

What a great start to the season and it was fantastic to see so many faces, old and new in the thread. Pucks were flying in the net last night. Maybe those smaller pads made a difference.

 the new rules

came into effect last night, as the NHL was looking for more scoring with these changes

The frame for the nets are not as deep making it much easier for wraparound goals and giving players much more room to maneuver behind the net.

The goalies pads are smaller from the waist down. The 5 hole is going to be bigger on most goalies and their pads will also not go all the way down to the ice (only the difference of about an inch but that could be a pretty big difference in pucks going in or not).
