UNLV Rebels: Coach Dave Rice's squad plays its second consecutive road game after beginning the campaign with six straight at Thomas & Mack. The Runnin' Rebels (6-1 straight-up, 3-4 against the spread) have won four in a row since their loss to Oregon in the opening round of the Global Sports Classic, but they have failed to cover the last two matchups as double-digit favorites. UNLV was without Mike Moser this past Tuesday when the Rebels got past Portland, 68-60. The senior forward remains questionable for Sunday's contest due to his hip injury (click to check updated college basketball injury report). Down by six at the half, UNLV used a 12-0 run in the second stanza to rally and avoid defeat. Freshman Anthony Bennett led the team with 18 points while Anthony Marshall added 16 and Justin Hawkins scored 15 off the bench. The Rebels are among the nation's leaders in rebounding (43.6 per game to rank 12th) and assists (18.4 per game for 6th), and they have held opponents to 35.5 percent shooting from the field, tied for ninth in the country.

California Golden Bears: A 6-0 start to the season ended for Cal (6-1 SU, 3-3 ATS) last Sunday in an 81-56 spanking at Wisconsin. The Bears were 8-point underdogs, but 23 turnovers led to the rout. Junior guard Allen Crabbe scored 25 for California in the loss, and he is sixth in the nation averaging 22.4 points per game. He is currently listed as probable on the Don Best injury report with a minor ankle injury. Justin Cobbs is second on the team in scoring (18.7 ppg), and the junior also leads the Bears with 3.1 assists per game. Coach Mike Montgomery's troops are converting over 74 percent of their free-throw attempts (45th in country) and averaging 17.7 points per game from the charity stripe. This will be just the second home game of the season for the team with a spread, and California came up short in the other contest with a 79-62 decision vs. Pepperdine on Nov. 13 (-20½).
