UConn clashes with Harvard on Friday night

Line: Connecticut -9.5
Connecticut hosts Harvard for a fourth straight year when the teams meet in Storrs, CT on Friday night.
UConn knocked off the Crimson in each of the previous three meetings, and have covered with easy double-digit wins each of the last two years (Jeremy Lin shot them into a close loss three years ago). Since a season-opening upset over Michigan State in Germany, UConn is 0-3-1 ATS. Harvard is just 3-3 ATS this season, but it is coming off a blowout 16-point win at Boston College, a game in which the Crimson were a four-point underdog.
Will the Huskies be able to win by double-digits on their home floor? For the answer, connect to College Basketball Best Bets for all the Expert picks throughout the entire 2012-13 season. The StatFox experts are a collective 52% ATS (103-95-6) in college basketball Best Bets for the season, led by StatFox Gary, who is 9-3 ATS (75%) since Nov. 26 and 63% ATS (22-13) for the season. The Huskies are relying heavily on their backcourt this year, especially Shabazz Napier (18.6 PPG) and Ryan Boatright (14.3 PPG, 4.8 APG). Freshman SG Omar Calhoun (10.1 PPG) has been an inconsistent third option. But as a team, they’re shooting just 30.9% on three-point tries, and they’re undermanned up front. Forwards DeAndre Daniels (8.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG) and Tyler Olander (5.4 PPG, 4.7 RPG) have both been inconsistent. C Enosch Wolf (4.3 PPG) is coming off a career game, going for 12 points and nine rebounds over 21 minutes against NC State, and his size gives him a definite edge against an undersized Harvard frontline.
Unlike many successful mid-majors, Harvard has leaned on youth this year. Sophomore swingman Wesley Saunders (16.1 PPG) is having a breakout season after averaging just 3.3 PPG as a freshman. Sophomore PF Jonah Travis (9.9 PPG on 61% FG) teams up with him in an undersized, but effective frontcourt. Freshman PG Siyani Chambers (12.7 PPG, 5.1 APG, 52% 3-pt FG) has provided a steady hand at the point. Chambers had 21 points and six assists in the B.C. win, while Saunders added 18.

Arkansas failed to cover as a 5-point favorite, and the final was the second straight "over." The Razorbacks beat the Wolverines 66-64 last January in Fayetteville as short home 'dogs.
Michigan Wolverines: Ranked third in both of the latest polls, the unbeaten Wolverines (8-0 SU, 6-1 ATS) are coming off a 73-41 win and cover vs. Western Michigan on Tuesday. Trey Burke scored 20 to lead the Maize & Blue who shot 50 percent from the field and rank third in the nation connecting on more than 52 percent of their field-goal attempts.

Colorado Buffaloes: The Buffs (7-1 SU, 5-2 ATS) rebounded from their lone loss of the season with a 70-61 home win vs. rival Colorado State on Wednesday. Spencer Dinwiddle scored 29 and Andre Roberson had a double-double in the victory. Colorado last faced Kansas in the 2010-11 season when both were Big 12 foes, and the Jayhawks have won the last 17 meetings dating back to January 2003.
Kansas Jayhawks: Winners of five straight, the Jayhawks (6-1 SU, 2-5 ATS) hit the floor for the first time in over a week. -- Colorado is 7-1 but lost only road game by 7 at 9-0 Wyoming; five of eight games were vs top 100 teams. Buffs are #3 in country at getting to foul line, shooting 41% behind arc. Kansas used to be Buffs' Big 12 rival; last time they met, Jayhawks won by 7 in Big 12 tourney semis in '11. Kansas won last five games, with four of five wins by 14+ points.

Atlantic 16 teams are 22-15 vs spread if number was 5 or less points.

Colorado at Kansas: What bettors need to know

Colorado at Kansas (-11.5)
One of the main benefits of moving to the Pac-12 for the Colorado basketball team is avoiding Kansas twice a year. Apparently the Buffaloes still feel like once is appropriate. Colorado will be renewing an old Big 12 rivalry when it visits the Jayhawks on Friday. No. 9 Kansas is in its usual position in the top 10 and is coming off a tight win over another Pac-12 school, Oregon State.
The Buffaloes took advantage of a down year in the Pac-12 last season to advance to the NCAA tournament and have looked strong to begin the 2012-13 campaign. They bounced back from their first loss with a win over Colorado State on Wednesday and have a point guard in Spencer Dimwiddie that can get in the lane and score from beyond the arc. The Jayhawks have plenty of players like that, led by freshman sensation Ben McLemore, as well as a center that controls the rim in Jeff Withey.

ABOUT COLORADO (7-1): The Buffaloes lost to Kansas three times in their final Big 12 season in 2010-11, including a 90-83 setback in the semifinals of the conference tournament that likely prevented Colorado from going to the NCAA tournament that season. Colorado has fared better in the Pac-12 and has four players averaging 12 or more points, led by Dinwiddie’s 17.8. Dinwiddie has gone for 24 or more in three straight games, capped off by 29 points on 8-of-10 shooting in the 70-61 win over the Rams on Wednesday. The Buffaloes were hurt by an inability to advance the ball against a pressure defense in their lone loss to Wyoming, 76-69 on Saturday. Colorado’s lone weakness is in passing, as its 9.5 assists rank near the bottom of Division I.
ABOUT KANSAS (6-1): The Jayhawks suffered their lone setback, 67-64, against Michigan State in Atlanta on Nov. 13 and have been on a roll ever since with five straight wins. Kansas has a backcourt big enough to overwhelm any opponent, with Elijah Johnson, McLemore and Travis Releford all 6-4 or bigger. Should opponents get past that line of the defense, Withey is waiting at the rim. The senior center is averaging 5.7 blocks and had 12 in a 70-57 win over San Jose State on Nov. 26. Withey scored 17 points and added three blocks against the Beavers on Nov. 30, leading a 60-percent shooting effort in the 84-78 win. Kansas has three straight home games before its next road battle - at No. 7 Ohio State on Dec. 22 - and does not kick off its Big 12 slate until Jan. 9.
