I'm in on this too but there's still one question I can't seem to answer. Unlike the NY Stock Exchange, etc where you are buying revenue producing companies, what are you buying here? These SOI's will never pay you a penny. So what are you really buying?
It's just a market driven by the perception of whether an a player is worth more or less than his current listed price. You're not buying anything tangible.

I guess not yet. Just joined tonight so maybe prices are lower at different times, etc. I put in another $90 just to buy a few guys. Only been an hour or so and not a whole lot of movement yet for me...
I have no clue about the stock market, trading, etc. though so don't take ANY of my opinions to be worth anything.
I have a question.... now that I own stock (hehe!) when should I "sell" them? What are the opinions of you that know about this stuff?
I don't understand why people are selling right before the split. James was at 19.99 and now he is at 15.05 it dosen't make since to me. You think they would hold and wait for tomorrow after the split to sell.
I'm holding all of my players to see how things look after tomorrow night. I expect about 6 of my 9 players to reach $20 per share and split. We'll see.
Please help me. If I have a guy that is selling (currently) at over $20 a share and it closes at 12:00am that way, it (should) split tonight? Sorry I just don't have a clue how this all works.....
What you want to do is buy guys as cheap as possible and hold on to them. If they close at 20 or higher each night...then they will split for at least 2 to 1. So if you have 2 shares of someone and it splits...the next day you will have 4 shares. That player might open up in the morning at $11 and people will try to buy those shares up while they are low. This will drive the player shares up in value. Hopefully they will drive them up enough to get to that $20 mark again so you can get a split. Then your 4 shares turn into 8 shares and it starts all over once again.
When these IPO's come out like tonight with Oden...people tend to sell off shares of what they have so they can request IPO's which are only $5. The last IPO released was Y. Ming and his shares split 16-1 because of all the poeple buying up shares so fast.
To be honest....right now is not a good time to sell anything. Just hold on to your shares and watch them continue to split.
Right now, all players are pretty much splitting because so many people are getting in and buying. The best thing to do is get up early in the morning when it opens and load up on the cheapest shares you can find. Also...you can wait for a new IPO to be offered at $5 per share and load up on your request for those shares.
One thing you might do is buy players who are obviously going to split right before trading closes for the night. Let's say you buy Drew Brees at $21.00 just before the close. Then, when you wake up the next day, he's $11.50 and you have twice as many shares. It's the same thing. However, this allows you to avoid trying to buy him during the quick run-up in the morning. Prices went crazy in the first hour Sunday morning, and I got screwed on guys like Yao Ming. The price was moving unbelievably fast. If I'd bought him late the previous night, I would have been ready for the early buying frenzy early Sunday.
