Maddon may have sparked the Cubs season. He plans these things. Lurks. Waits. Then pounces once the opportunity appears.

Maddon's planned and orchestrated (I have no problem with it being that) wig out in the Pirates game may have restarted the Cubs season. The second half, they play the majority of their games vs their own scrub division opponents. And a good chunk of those...vs the Pirates.

Using basic visual take...they should roll. But, that dinosaur pitching staff will have more injury games, they have no depth (Theo's words), no lead off hitter, and that closer is super suspect.

At the break, central division has 5 teams all within 4.5 games.
Talking heads saying watch the Brewers at the trade deadline. It'll indicate what their intentions are on this season.

Cubs brought up a new body, Robel Garcia. He had a good breakout game. But there's a reason he's been around a while....even in Italy....and every team has taken a pass. His fielding is suspect at best. Unless this is just jitters.
