Greinke

Zack Greinke will try to keep his unblemished record at home intact when Milwaukee hosts the Miami Marlins in the first of a four-game series. He might be extra motivated after being left off the National League All-Star team, which was announced Sunday.

Greinke is 15-0 with a 2.47 ERA at Miller Park, and the Brewers have won 20 of his 21 starts there. He is the fourth pitcher since 1900 to win his first 15 home decisions with a team. Greinke, who held opponents to a .203 average in June, hasn’t pitched at Miller Park since June 6, when he recorded seven shutout innings and struck out a season-high 12 in an 8-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Miami enters on a four-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep of Philadelphia. Milwaukee has won two straight, including a 2-1 victory over Arizona on Sunday when pinch-runner Carlos Gomez raced home on two throwing errors after he stole second base in the bottom of the ninth inning.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Carlos Zambrano (4-6, 3.71 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Zack Greinke (9-2, 2.82 ERA)

Zambrano is 0-3 in his last four starts, including a 5-2 loss against St. Louis on Tuesday when he allowed five runs (none earned), seven hits and walked five in 6 2/3 innings. He is 13-10 with a 3.81 ERA in 34 appearances (31 starts) against the Brewers. The Milwaukee roster is hitting .271 against him with Ryan Braun 11-for-43 (homer, 14 strikeouts) and Corey Hart 10-for-36 (10 strikeouts).

Greinke is 4-0 in his last six starts overall, including an 8-4 victory at Cincinnati on Wednesday when he allowed two runs and five hits in six innings. His previous outing was a three-hit shutout at the Chicago White Sox on June 22. Greinke is 2-0 in four games (three starts) against Miami. The Marlins’ roster is hitting .286 against him, with Logan Morrison 4-for-4, with a double, two walks and two RBIs.
