 Why only 3 minutes to edit posts?

Never understood the concept of that, is there a way to change it to where we can edit at any time? Thanks

The 3 minute edit is to keep down fights from people posting a pick, or anything thing for that matter and then coming back and changing it later.

If you want to modify something you said you can post again on the same thread.
