When giving a green star edge on the game estimator I have noticed it is almost always to the underdog.
Yesterday in cbb 12/20/08. I printed the estimator page from the power search and there were 27 teams with a green star ATS. What I found was that only 4 of those teams were favorites............. All 4 of the favorites did cover the line.
Is this common?? I just renewed my foxsheets I have not had them for several years. In the past printing the entire page of estimators was not posible. The power search feature is great btw!!
Why does the estimator favor the dog in such a high percentage?
What is the success ratio of favorites when they are indicated by a star on the simulator this year in CBB??
(I assume you can check this fairly easily??)
Also why doesnt stat fox have some numbers for their customers such as estimator edge percentage, edge to dog, edge to dd favorite, over, under etc??? I know you have this info..
Jaxson - The FoxSheets game simulator does tend to favor the underdog in general. Oddsmakers tend to over-inflate the lines when a power conference team is favored over a lesser conference team. Most of lines in these games are 10, 20 points or more. These games tend to be more unpredictable in terms of who covers the spread, since they are decided in many ways in "garbage time" by backup players. As a general rule, I would recommend weighing the simulator more heavily when handicapping tight spread games (within 10 or less pts) and games where the two teams' conferences are more equal. I would factor it less in high spread games between two teams from unequal conferences. (For the reasons mentioned above.) I hope this helps.
