This is a game about spots as much as anything. The Islanders and Hurricanes are one point apart in the Eastern Conference standings, and both realistically are out of the playoff hunt. However, they may still be clinging to hope. This is a bad spot for Carolina for a few reasons. First, they just played at home yesterday and lost to Philadelphia. Second, they have to travel and have something of an odd start time at 5 pm ET. And finally, the Islanders are a better home team and have been difficult to stop offensively at Barclays Center. This feels like a spot in which the Islanders can get the job done and put a “W” on the board after a day off.
