D-Backs vs Dodgers

MLB 51-39 +2.86

Yesterdays win by the Dodgers sets up these two trend for us tonight. The Diamondbacks are 2-15 since April 18, 2004 as a road 140 plus underdog after a one run loss and it is not the first game of a series, average score 2.5 to 4.8. The Dodgers are 26-6 since May 9, 2004 as a 140 plus favorite after a one run win and it is not the first game of a series, average score 5.2 to 3.2.

Pitching for Arizona tonight will be Max Scherzer who's 0-1 against the Dodgers in four appearances with a 3.21 era. In his only start this year against the Dodgers back on May 5th, Scherzer had four strikeouts on root to giving up three runs on four hits in six innings pitched in a 3-1 loss.

Manager A.J. Hinch is going to shorten the leash on the 25-year-old, who has already worked more innings (139 1/3) than all of last season between Tucson and Arizona (109). Scherzer continues to rack up strikeouts, tallying 30 in 22 2/3 innings over his last four starts. His ratio of 9.69 strikeouts per nine innings is sixth-best in the majors.

Chad Billingsley had this to say about is resent pitching slump. "It's definitely frustrating when you're not pitching well late into the season, I've just got to keep trying to figure something out."

Arizona may be just the right medicine to help Billingsley out, seeing he has won his last three starts against them, while compiling a 0.93 era. In Billingsley last start he gave up only four hits in a 1-0 shutout versus Arizona back on June 3rd of this year. Billingsley has a lifetime record of 7-4 with a 3.06 era.

Some welcome trends for this game are. The Diamondbacks are 2-10 in their last 12 road games versus a right handed starter. Arizona is 1-6 in their last 7 games as an underdog of +151 to +200. In Scherzers last 9 road starts versus a team with a winning record Arizona is 2-7. And Arizona is 2-10 the last 12 meetings in Los Angels.

For the Dodgers we get that they are 7-3 in their last 10 games as a favorite of -151 to -200. In Bellingsleys last 21 home starts versus a team with a losing record their 17-4

And because I always like umpire help, we get the Dodgers are 6-2 in their last eight games with Gary Darling behind home plate. The home team is 46-17 in Darlings last 63 games when he's umpiring behind the plate. And if you happen to be a favorite of -161 or more you are a nice 5-1 this season.

Selection Dodgers -175
