Glad you are happy. Sometimes we get what we wish for and in this case I am afraid we have given Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barney Rubble an EZ PASS to our wallets.

Gotta agree with UGA bulldog, this guy with either be another Carter or a Harry Truman. There will be no status quo for the next four years.... Tremendous failure or tremendous success... i hope it's the latter, i'm fearful it won't be..

No matter who got elected wasn't going to matter on the economy. McCain would have had the same problems as Obama, lets not forget. Sure, they both had different views on how to fix it, but, in reality both of them don't have the real answers. The real answer is for people to quit spending money they don't have. Americans have become infatuated with debt. This is the responsibility of our banks and businesses to quit offering so much credit to people who can barely afford to pay their utilities. This is not the responsibility of our gorvernment or president. It is the responsibilty of us, the people, to ensure that our economy doesn't tank and we have all failed miserably.

Lets take this solution. How about paying back everything you owe. If you can't, then you are part of the problem. Look in the mirror. Don't look to blame something else although their is plenty to go around. Who signed that sub prime loan? The people. Who ran their credit cards up knowing they couldn't or wouldn't pay. The people. We as a nation have lived by sight. We see that plasma screen t.v. Gotta have it. We see that car or truck. Gotta have it. We see that nice house. Gotta have it even though the one we live in would do just fine. We need to take a look at ourselves first!!! Don't look for the president, the government and others for bailouts. It's our problem. Until this nation realizes this we are going to wind up in the same boat.

As for small business owners, you're going to have to find a way to operate business without having to constantly swipe peoples credit cards. If that means reducing business, so be it. At least you're not helping the problem along. I personally manage a transportation business and we are facing the worst year ever and this company has been around since 1952. Yes, 1952!!! I have had to lay off over half of my work force. I did this to keep the company alive in hopes the economy picks up and then I will fill those positions again. I made a decision (though not a popular one) to stop taking credit cards. For one, they cost the business up to 2% of the transaction and two, I will no longer be a part of the credit problem. Doesn't mean it will be like this forever, but I felt I had to act.

As for the new administration that is coming into place, I will support what President elect Obama proposes as long as it doesn't involve banks lending money and taxing small business which rumor has it he might do. We'll see.

Now for the negative attitudes. I myself voted for McCain. That doesn't mean I become angry and go crawl in a hole. Lets give Barak Obama a chance. He deserves it. He's well spoken, well read, has a great sense of history of this nation. If I disagree with something he is doing, then I will write my congressman. That is what they are there for. If there is something you don't like, do something. It is your right. Creating hate, disdain and untruthfulness will only divide this nation which will make things so much worse. Not to mention demoralize yourself. Have a voice, keep an open mind and everything will be fine.

Taking responsibility for your own actions......definite kudos there Craiger.

Both candidates promised "transparency".....I will really be looking for that one!

Good write-up Craig.

Outstanding post, Craiger

As you say, "The real answer is for people to quit spending money they don't have." The same principle should apply to our government, no?

A lot of people have been indoctrinated with the idea that Democrats are "tax and spend" artists. Very few seem to understand that the outgoing Republican regime has been devoted to the "borrow and spend" model---spending money they don't have. Running up the national debt to foreign creditors, most notably the Peoples Republic of China. They seem to be telling us future generations won't actually have to pay off all those loans, while continuing to pitch the old, fallacious plan to further enrich and empower the already rich and powerful---with the promise that prosperity will "trickle down."

The wiser choice is to encourage the massive middle class---including small business people---to support a "bubble up" economy. The already rich and powerful maintain prosperity with a more prosperous middle class affording more, and the government budget can be balanced.

That's what "spreading the wealth" means. It's not socialism or Marxism or communism. It's the "American Dream."
