MLB Plays 5/7/8

Lets take a look at the first one under the sun.

Will tack on some later

1. Cubs at Reds

Edinson Volquez gets the ball for the Reds today. He has been terrific this season with an ERA of 1.27 in 6 starts. Surprisingly only 2 have gone under in large part due to getting incredible run support. The Reds have scored 8 or more in 4 of his starts. That kinda run production seems unlikely from the struggling Red Machine. Over the last 7 games the Reds are averaging 3 runs a game batting just 210 over the 7 game stretch.

Jon Lieber goes for the Cubs making his first start of the season after starting the season in the pen. He has good lifetime numbers pitching at Cincy. His last 2 starts versus the Reds were shutouts and has an ERA of under 2 in his last 4 starts in the state of Ohio.

Cubs offense on the road has hit under 250 this season and its important to note this Cub team strikes out alot on the road averaging nearly 7 k's per game on the road. This is particularly important versus Volguez who avaerage more than a K an inning. Hopefully some easy outs today for Volquez like the last time he faced the Cubs going 5, striking out 7 and giving up one run back on 4/17. Play

you are correct Mag. i look to the ump stats as a secondary assist to a play.

welke has been around awhile and he doesn't trend one way or the other over the long term. lets home we return to the mean today :)

to

borrow MSU's phrase "for what it's worth" answer not much :)

The Dodgers this season are a perfect 10-0 under during the day this season.

John Maine has made 6 starts in May over the last 2 seasons and 5 went under.

Could not make up my mind between the long and short game so played both

good luck

I am on the side -120, we can share some wealth on this game. I feel like we were on the right side in the Reds game just fell victim to the Loooong ball
