West Mich vs Air Force
PLAY ON: WMU +1

Air Force comes in off a nice rebound season, winning 9 games.* They were one bad season away from some major changes in the football program.* They did it with some outstanding play on 3rd down (48% - off; 37% - def).* You can expect any military academy to show up for their bowl game.* Even though the Air Force has the better kciking game and is the better team in the red zone, we'll back the Broncos of Western Michigan in this game.* There is some young talent on this team, and these 15 additional practices are not only big for this game, but as a springboard for 2015.* What we like best about this game*is the plays that will be there in the passing game for WMU, who average 9.7 YPA where air Force is suspect in this area, giving up 7.9 YPA.* That should be the difference in the game


NFL FREE PLAY

Detroit vs Chicago
PLAY ON: Detroit -7.5

Big spread for a division road favorite to lay, but there is a good reason for it:* The Lions need the game and the Bears have quit on the season.* They didn't show much at home against the Saints on Monday night, and there is no reason to think this Sunday will be any different.* The Bear defense is one of the worst in the NFL (4.3 YPC 7.9 YPA 41% 3rd down).* There are also rumbles that head coach Marc Tressman will be out at the end of the year.* Both teams comit more than their share of penalties.* The team that doesn't show much interest in the game, the Bears, are more likely to commit some extra silly ones.* The Lion offense has been so-so this season, but QB Matt Stafford isn't killing the team with costly turnovers and Detroit is riding one of the NFL's best defenses (3.1 YPC 6.2 YPA 36% 3rd down).* Part of the reason the offensive numbers are down is that Detroit doesn't need to sling it around in 4th quarters because of their defense.* Look for Detroit to handle the happless Bears on the road.
