Thanksgiving Day Football **Top Plays** (Thursday, November 23, 2006)
**Top Play #1**
Detroit Lions (+3.5) (-120) over Miami Dolphins*
*This line is available at betus after buying the hook. Detroit remains a Top Play at +3 or more.
Joey Harrington, the former #1 draft pick of the Detroit Lions, returns to his former home and will be greeted by a loud chorus of boos. Historically, the Lions have been a terrific investment on Thanksgiving as they are 8-2 ATS when the line is -4 to +4 and 12-4 ATS when playing with revenge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Play On - Home teams (Detroit) - after failing to cover the spread in 3 out of their last 4 games against opponent after covering the spread in 3 out of their last 4 games.
(66-32 over the last 5 seasons; 67.3%)
This system is 33-12 ATS since 2002.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Dolphins are 10-23 ATS following consecutive home games, 10-20 ATS when playing with 6 or less days of rest (2-5 ATS this season), 4-10 ATS as a favorite and 3-7 ATS this season. Meanwhile, the public has been pounding the “perceived” better team which always makes me feel better about my investment.
Finally, the Dolphins are an alarming 7-22 ATS as a favorite off back-to-back home games, including 0-10 ATS when priced from -3 to -6 points.
Take the home underdog as they will secure the outright win this afternoon. Happy Thanksgiving!

**Top Play #2**
Miami Florida (+4.5) (-115) over Boston College*
*This line is currently available at betus after buying the hook. Miami remains a Top Play at +3.5 or more.
The Miami Hurricanes will win this game outright for their slain teammate and soon-to-be-fired head coach. This game is about pride for a Miami team that needs a win to become bowl eligible. This game is about a Boston College squad that is 0-7 SU against Miami and find themselves marching directly into an emotional buzz saw. The points are an added gift as Boston College has no shot to win this game tonight. None.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Play Against - A road team (Boston College) - a very good team (>=+10 PPG diff.) against an average team (+/- 5 PPG diff.) after 7 or more games, after allowing 7 points or less in the first half in 2 straight games.
(44-16 since 1992; 73.3%)
This system is a powerful 17-8 ATS since 2000 and 31-11 ATS since 1995.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miami’s defense will limit Boston College to single digits tonight as they are allowing only 10 points per game, 12.3 first downs, 50 rushing yards (1.8 ypc) and 196 total yards at home this season.
Meanwhile, the home team is 8-2 ATS in this series and Boston College will be forced to deal with the heat and humidity of Florida off a short week. Historically, teams play well in their final home game for a ‘fired’ head coach, and while Coker has not been officially terminated, he is likely coaching his final game at the Orange Bowl.
From an emotional and scheduling aspect, this game favors Miami and, accordingly, the Hurricanes honor their fallen teammate and well-liked head coach in style. . .with a commanding win before the home crowd.
Once again, the public is on the wrong side here as 85% of the square money favors Boston College.
Good luck!

I'm still handicapping the Denver/Kansas City game and will post additional Top Plays, if any, by 11 a.m. eastern time.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
Gob bless the men and women in uniform throughout the world who are making the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our borders and honoring the flag. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their loved ones.

Damn, you made me laugh so hard that I woke up my girlfriend in the other room! Your K.C. comment was absolutely hilarious. However, I have no comment as to its truth or accuracy. :-)
Have a great Thanksgiving, sir.

Take Detroit now and buy the hook. The line could drop to '2' or less before kick-off.
It's just a tough spot for Miami tomorrow and I like this Detroit offense under the dome.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
