Katerina Siniakova vs. Jessica Pegula – Berlin
I have backed Siniakova in each of the last two matches, and the Czech player responded with wins over Emma Navarro and Qinwen Zheng. Siniakova has now gone through two qualifying matches and two main draw matches without dropping a set, and she is showing that her skill set is a perfect match for grass. Siniakova, who is one of the best doubles players in the world, is effective as a server and knows how to win points at the net. She also has a nice aggressive baseline approach, while also having the wheels required to play defense. Well, all of that should come in handy against Pegula, who hasn’t looked like an elite player in 2024.
Pegula is also just 14-10 on grass at the WTA level, meaning Siniakova has an edge in experience on this surface. She’s 23-21 on grass in her career and has a better understanding of how to win matches on speeding fast surfaces. And overall, I just like that she’s really feeling herself on the court right now, as that should be important against a player that is lacking in confidence. Siniakova knows exactly what she needs to do out there, while Pegula is still figuring things out this year.
Bet: Siniakova ML (+120 – 1.5 units)
