Hernandez is a perfect 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA in five starts this month. He’s also a perfect 5-0 with a 2.87 ERA in nine starts since the All-Star break, as hitters are batting just .172 against him.
Philadelphia right-hander Kyle Lohse is 5-3 with a 2.72 ERA in 11 home starts this season, which is dramatically different from his 2-9 record and 6.07 ERA on the road. He’s made two starts at Citizens Bank Park this season, going 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA.
Lohse has limited experience against the Mets in his career, allowing seven runs and 11 hits over 11 2/3 innings. He was handed a 5-2 road loss to New York on July 15, giving up five runs and six hits over 4 2/3 innings.

New York sinker ball thrower Chien-Ming Wang is an even 4-4 with a 4.78 ERA in 10 career games versus Boston. He’s struggled with his control against the Red Sox, issuing 27 walks and fanning just 21 batters in 58 1/3 innings.
Wang is a solid 8-4 with a 3.20 ERA in 13 home games this season. The Yankees have picked up three straight victories with him on the mound at Yankee Stadium, outscoring opponents 26-10 in the process.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM ET)

Tampa Bay starter Scott Kazmir is an even 3-3 with a 4.42 ERA in 10 career starts versus Baltimore. He’s posted an even 1-1 record and 3.57 ERA in three starts against them in 2007, failing to serve up a home run in 17 2/3 innings.
After allowing just one earned run in his first 19 innings this month, Kazmir has now given up nine earned runs over his last 13 2/3 innings.
Orioles right-hander Jeremy Guthrie is a perfect 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA in three career games versus the Devil Rays. He grabbed an 8-3 home victory over Tampa Bay on May 8, allowing one run and six hits over six innings.
Guthrie has a losing 2-4 record and 3.82 ERA in 12 home games this season. Opposing batters are hitting .269 against him at Camden Yards compared to just .211 on the road.

Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs (8:05 PM ET)

Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo is 2-3 with a 6.88 ERA in eight road appearances this season. The rookie right-hander has struggled with his control away from Miller Park, issuing 16 of his 25 walks on the road.
Gallardo has struggled mightily during the month of August despite posting a 3-2 record, giving up 24 earned runs and 37 hits in just 24 innings of work. He’s coming off a 6-2 road loss to the San Francisco Giants, allowing five runs and seven hits over three frames.
Chicago’s Ted Lilly is an even 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA in three career games versus the Brewers. The left-hander was impressive in picking up a 9-3 home victory over Milwaukee on April 25, allowing just a single earned run and six hits over seven innings.
The Cubs have lost three straight games with Lilly on the hill, being outscored 20-14 in the process. He’s allowed 13 earned runs and 17 hits in 17 innings of work.

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres (10:05 PM ET)

Buffalo at Rutgers (7:00 PM ET)

The No. 16 Scarlet Knights are in search of their eighth consecutive home victory. Rutgers flirted with an undefeated season and a BCS berth in 2006, winning its first nine games before finishing with a team-record 11-2 mark. The Knights capped off their dazzling year with a 37-10 victory over Kansas State in the Texas and were #12 in the final AP poll.
Rutgers QB Mike Teel could give head coach Greg Schiano a reason to lesson the load on RB Ray Rice. Teel is looking to build on his strong finish to 2006, as he completed 65.2 percent of passes for 692 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions in the last three games. That was an improvement after posting a 52.4 completion percentage for 1,443 yards, seven touchdowns and 13 picks in the first 10 contests.
The Buffalo Bulls are 12-79 since moving to Division I-A in 1999, including 4-45 on the road. Rutgers is looking for its fifth victory in six games against the Bulls, who went 2-10 last season and 1-7 in the Mid-American Conference.
QB Drew Willy will try to help Buffalo improve an offense that produced only 24 touchdowns last season. Willy, a third-year starter out of Randolph, N.J., completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 1,391 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions in 2006.

#2 LSU at Mississippi State (ESPN | 8 PM ET)

LSU has won seven straight from Mississippi State by a 295-81 margin, including two shutouts. The Bulldogs won just three games for the third straight season in 2006, but four of their losses were by three points each.
Tigers head coach Les Miles will have an experienced squad to draw upon with 15 returning starters and 24 seniors, including quarterback Matt Flynn. He was a backup each of the last three years to JeMarcus Russell and hasn’t started since helping LSU to a 40-3 rout of Miami in the 2005 Peach Bowl.
Anthony Dixon paced Mississippi State running backs with 668 yards and nine scored in 2006, but the Bulldogs’ best offensive threat may be returner Derek Pegues, who averaged 23.7 yards on kickoffs and 14 yards on punts last season.
Mississippi State, beginning its fourth season under coach Sylvester Croom, has lost six straight season openers since beating Florida in 2000. The Bulldogs are predicted to finish last in the SEC West.

Utah at Oregon State (10 PM ET)

Utah has won four of its last five games against Pac-10 opponents. Kyle Whittingham is 1-1 against the Pac-10 as Utah’s head coach and 9-9 against the Pac-10 counting his years as a Ute assistant. Oregon State leads the series 8-4-1, although Utah has won the last two games and three of the last four.
The Utes are 64-48-1 all-time in season openers and 17-29 when the season opener is on the road. Utah’s most recent season-opening road win was in 2002 at Utah State and the last time the Utes began the year with a road win over a Pac-10 foe was in 1999 at Washington State.
For the first time in modern history and the first time during the Mike Riley era, Oregon State heads into the opener with alternating quarterbacks. Sophomore left-hander Sean Canfield will start the game with sophomore Lyle Moevao entertng at the beginning of the second quarter.
The Beavers have won 22 consecutive non-conference games at home and head coach Mike Riley is a perfect 13-0 at Reser Stadium against non-Pac-10 foes.

Yes they are. Seen this mistake at many sites. A point concerning the Yankee game. Wang is on 4 days rest which is a big loss for him as opposed to 5 while Curt is on 5 which is very good for him. A first half play on Boston is risky but my choice.
