November 13, 2012 3:02 AM by Doc's Sports Service

Here are this week’s selections with opening lines provided by 5dimes.

Arkansas +6½ at Miss St.: Mississippi State fell from the national spotlight with three straight losses to highly ranked teams, but this is still a very talented club that knows how to put points on the board against teams it is expected to beat.

The Bulldogs can move the ball through the air behind quarterback Tyler Russell to go along with a running game anchored by LaDarius Perkins. This 1-2 punch should have a very productive day against the overmatched Razorbacks.

This is the kind of season that Arkansas fans will just want to simply pretend never happened. An ugly 1-4 start has given way to an overall record of 4-6 straight-up and a costly 2-7 mark against the spread. The Razorbacks have just two SU victories in conference play over Auburn and Kentucky, which are bringing up the rear in their respective divisions. MISS ST.

NC State +17½ at Clemson: The Tigers still have an outside shot at winning the ACC Atlantic Division title, but it would need Florida State to trip-up against Maryland which is not going to happen.

Nonetheless, the Tigers are still one of the best all-around teams in the nation with a passing game ranked No. 12 in the nation behind Tajh Boyd and a running game that is grinding-out an average of 191.7 yards a game. Throw in a defense that has not given-up more than 20 points in its last four games and this game should be no closer than three touchdowns.

Ever since NC State stunned the college football world by upsetting the Seminoles, it has returned to form with just one win in the last three games both SU and ATS and now has an overall record of 3-6-1 ATS. The Wolfpack are 6-4 SU, but 0-3-1 both SU and ATS in four previous road games this season. CLEMSON.

Tennessee +4 at Vandy: The Commodores have remained well under the radar in the star-studded SEC, but have very quietly built a respectable 6-4 SU record with a four-game winning streak.

They are by no means an offensive juggernaut, but staying true to the makeup of so many of the better teams in the SEC, they have a shutdown defense that is giving-up an average of just 18 points a game.

The Volunteers made an early splash this year with a 3-1 SU start, but the reality in Knoxville is that this is not that good of team. The Vols have just one victory in their last six games.

Tennessee is coming off a 51-48 overtime loss to Missouri this past Saturday as 3½-point favorites at home. Tennessee is 3-7 ATS this season overall and giving-up an average of 37 points a game. VANDY.

Here's the updated College Records with all games completed for this past week.

Green Sheet 37-24-2 60.7% (6-2)
Gold Sheet 26-18 59.1% (2-2)
CKO 45-41 52.3% (1-6)
Playbook 22-22 50% (2-2)
Power Sweep 35-37 (48.6%) (1-3)
Pointwise 41-46 47.1% (4-4)
Winning Points 29-36-1 44.6% (3-3)
Red Sheet 23-32 41.81% (3-2)

Green Sheet moves to the top spot after a 6-2 week and is 9-4 the last 2 weeks. Keep in mind the record isn't accounting for a few weeks where the selections nor the newsletter was posted.

Gold Sheet goes 2-2 again for the 3rd straight week and falls from the #1 spot.

CKO which was everyone's darling and can't lose newsletter has faded into oblivion. 2-13 the last two weeks. This was something I warned about when all the euphoria about how great they were was taking place.

Playbook like the Gold Sheet continues on it's 2-2 weekly record for the 3rd straight week. Toss out the struggling Underdog Record of 3-8 and PB would be doing pretty well at 19-14.

The remaining newsletters continue to struggle and aren't worth talking about it.

A lot of funny things took place on Saturday in NCAA action, look at the end of the MS ST/LSU game, Penn St/NB and especially the Idaho/BYU game.

Idaho down 52-10 after BYU kicks a FG to be ahead of the 40.5 spread they are laying. They hold Idaho to a 4th and 5 with 20 seconds left or so and rather than Idaho going for it, they punt, BYU muffs it. Idaho comes out with 7 seconds left on the clock and kicks the FG, makes it covers the spread and the sidelines was going nuts after he made it. Now if that doesn't say FIX, I don't know what does.

I've seen thousands of games and this one will stick out for quite some time.

We won't even talk about the second half of KST vs TCU with KST laying 3. 1 Minute to go and up 7 in the second half and rather than doing the kneel down play. They hand off fumble and yep TCU scores a meaningless TD to make the second half 10-10. Another great fix in the books. Call it what you want but there's no need to hand off on first down with 1 min left in the game.

Have a great week ahead if you have a bankroll left to play with. I have a feeling a lot of people got smashed this weekend based on early reports.
