So since Sawyer isn't too sure how he did last October I did a little research at work today to see how underdogs did last October overall. Hope I got all my numbers right.

It turns out that if you played every underdog blindly last October you would come out well ahead.

I included all games with odds of +105 or better.
I will try and get the numbers for the previous 2 seasons to see if we have a trend on our hands.

Yeah, I bet all three dogs today. Beginners luck. Your Pittsburgh game is kicking ass so far though. Good job man. Looking forward to tailing you this year. I'll post my findings for the 2009 and 2010 seasons for October soon.

I don't have numbers to back this up, but I've noticed over the past few years, both in pucks and bases, that dogs seem to fare quite well in the first half of the season. Sawyer's results last NHL season REALLY convinced me of this. I sat out the first two weeks last season, but then rode his plays all the way from mid-December until April 1. Will do so again this season, each game at 2.5 percent of BR with adjustments on wager amounts made after each 25-percent gain in BR.
