Not a lawyer here, so does anyone have a solid take on how todays ruling will impact "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006" ? I havent read all the ruling, but it clearly sounds that court has largely invalidated federal jurisdiction over gambling and this invalidating this law?
From what I read the ruling applies to the feds telling the states its illegal. So now its up to the states to enact a law to make it legal. I would think internet gambling overseas is still illegal. Don't think it has anything to do with this ruling. lets keep the money here.. call your congressman.
give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day"
Tex, this act made it unlawful to wager even domestically. So now my guess is with many states legalizing sports wagering, this act should be superceded by todays ruling. So if Florida legalized sports gambling it should be legal for these casinos in Florida to offer online wagering. I do think the 2006 act was politically influenced to keep people from betting internationally as opposed to going to Vegas or a domestic gambling option. But overall this ruling is decades past due and will net states huge revenues!
Taxes will be levied in the form of vig, which you are already paying offshore. I think we all should support our local sports teams and government and wager here in the great USA. Screw those offshore crooks. But that's your choice Ronnie. To each his own.

why are they offshore crooks....i have never been denied any payoffs in 20 yrs of using
online books. i trust them over any govt. financial undertakings. love my country, hate the govt.
The real crooks are in Vegas. Until living there I had no idea that Casinos have an absolute lock on public sports betting. It is illegal in the state of Nevada to make a wager outside the state of Nevada with any electronic communication devices. This is the reason the books/crooks greatly reduce the odds for example NFL football during the playoffs. Lets say there is four teams to go and the true odds offshore are like 3/5, 8/5, 2, and 4 to 1. In Vegas in will be 3/5, 4/5, 1/1, and 2/1. Think about how crazy this law is. you are commiting a felony to bet outside the state of Nevada while being in the State. They don't want any sharp action. They just want the mindless tourists betting their favorite teams and could care less about the true odds.
the casinos here in ny state are gearing up to have legal sports betting operational in time for the world series. between that and the legalization of weed, the state will be
"rolling" in cash.
