4-15-18 Hockey thread, picks, info and more

Well the squares are just mopping up this playoffs. If you play the faves and overs you are making a mint. I just can't see this continuing, it's been a good while since I have seen a first round that could have 6 of the 8 series at 2-0. If you play a certain way that could be a bankroll buster. Ahem.........

Did not make pick

Brutus 1-0

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia 3:00 PM
Winnipeg at Minnesota 7:00 PM
Columbus at Washington 7:30 PM
Vegas at Los Angeles 10:30 PM

Puck Talk with.....wait for it.......A history lesson

First the dirty little details out of the way. I concentrate on ignoring win order but do consider site order.

Faves have just rolled so far, 5 series are at 2-0 and after tonight we could have 6 at 2-0. So how exactly does that home team do that is down 2-0.

You would think they pull those lace skates up and win at home ? Hmmmmm, do they.....

Jets at Minny and Vegas at LA

Well you would be correct, but just barely. The home team in this position in the preliminary round is hitting at 53%, if you include all rounds they are actually slightly losing only hitting at 49.5%.

So the odds today are very telling. Minny was almost a pick'em, but now at -110 at most books. So that is pretty much what it's supposed to be. But LA is -140 now which history tells up that it's a pretty big overlay.

What about series that are 1-1. The home team has wrestled home ice (dis)advantage back. How does the road team fare here ?

Pens at Philly

A bit of a mixed bag here, for the preliminary round the road team is doing well winning 54.8% of the time. But if we look at all rounds it's pretty much a 50-50 flip. Philly is around a -118 fave so you could say the line favors Pitt slightly.

Jackets at Caps

How about the Jackets up 1-0 against the Caps, surely the Caps come firing back tonight with a W ?

You would be very correct, the home team is hitting at 67% for the prelims and 62% for all rounds. So that -150 is pretty much spot on. But of course none of you would play such a high line.....right ???? -1 for the Caps with a nice dog payout !!!!

Remember if you ignore history you will be defeated by it !!!

Washington-1

Good luck.

The numbers look fair and I am being influenced by that history lesson.

Lippsman, Thanks for all you do for this thread.
