Winning Points

**PREFERRED
*Orlando over Los Angeles Clippers by 3
The Magic aren't going to win many games this season, but they have guard Victor
Oladipo, a leading Rookie of the Year candidate, improved big man Nikola Vucevic
and are in a great ambush spot here. Orlando has been idle since Sunday. The Clippers
flew in from the West Coast following their Monday home game against Houston and
play the world champion Heat tomorrow night on national television. Which opponent
do you think the Clippers are emphasizing more? Something tells us it's the Heat.
ORLANDO 98-95.

Chicago over *Indiana by 1
The Bulls should be more than ready for this early-season physical showdown, having
been the only team to go unbeaten during preseason while the Pacers were under .500
in preseason and Danny Granger has yet to demonstrate that he's 100 percent.
CHICAGO 88-87.

*Charlotte over Toronto by 4
A number of Bobcats, including Kemba Walker, should be much improved this season.
Charlotte draws the Raptors playing in their fourth game in five days. Charlotte
entered the season having covered during its past four Wednesday games last season.
CHARLOTTE 102-98.

Washington over *Philadelphia by 3
The teams just met this past Friday in Washington. The Wizards failed to cover in
seven of their last eight road games to close out last season. Washington, however, has a huge backcourt edge.
Washington 95-92.

**PREFERRED
*Boston over Utah by 15
Boston has a rare chance to reward their faithful fans with a blowout victory. Like the
Celtics, the Jazz face a massive rebuilding job. Utah had the worst record in preseason
and are playing their fourth game in five days and second road matchup in 48 hours.
The Jazz don't have nearly enough quality bodies to withstand that kind of physical
toll.
BOSTON 101-86.

*Memphis over New Orleans by 9
The Grizzlies shouldn't be taking the Pelicans lightly as New Orleans won, 90-83, at
home when these teams last met on March 22. Memphis entered the season 11-3 ATS
versus Western Conference opponents.
MEMPHIS 91-82.

*Milwaukee over Cleveland by 1
Milwaukee has had three full days to rest and prepare for this matchup. Still, the Bucks
had failed to cover in 22 of their last 28 games versus Eastern Conference foes entering the season and have a turned over roster with a new coach. The Cavaliers figure to be stronger defensively under Mike Brown. Kyrie Irving easily is the best player on the court.
MILWAUKEE 93-92.

Golden State over *Minnesota by 1
David Lee can match Kevin Love on the boards and the Warriors came into the season
having covered 12 of their last 15 games. Golden State averaged nearly six more
points per game than the Timberwolves during the 2012-13 season.
GOLDEN STATE 102-101.

**PREFERRED
*San Antonio over Phoenix by 4
The Suns are light years away from being in San Antonio's class, but we like them to
stay close and cover the number in this one mainly due to a great scheduling spot. The veteran-laden Spurs return home from a three-game West Coast swing that began
Friday in Los Angeles and finished last night in the high altitude of Denver. If you
recall, the Suns ended the Spurs' 18-game home winning streak when these teams last
met back in late February.
SAN ANTONIO 99-95.

*Oklahoma City over Dallas by 10
Dallas fared extremely well in its last 12 Wednesday games in 2012-13 going 10-2
ATS. This isn't a good spot, however, for the Mavericks. It's their fourth game in five
days and second in back-to-back nights having just hosted the Lakers. Meanwhile, the
Thunder have been idle since Sunday. The Mavericks lack a defensive stopper facing
Kevin Durant.
OKLAHOMA CITY 105-95.

Clippers at Magic - 7:05 PM EST

Los Angeles: 3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS
Orlando: 2-2 SU, 4-0 ATS

The Clippers embark on a three-game road trip that begins in Orlando. Los Angeles has won three straight games since losing the opener to the rival Lakers, as the Clippers routed the Rockets on Monday night, 137-118 as five-point home favorites. The Clips have easily cashed the 'over' in all four games, while busting the 110-point mark in all three victories.

The Magic have been the biggest surprise from the pointspread perspective, cashing in their first four contests. Orlando returned home to knock off New Orleans and Brooklyn as underdogs, winning both games by at least 20 points. From a defensive standpoint, the Magic has limited three of four opponents to 97 points or less, but Orlando has hit the 'under' just twice this season. The road team won each of the two meetings last season, including a 10-point triumph by Los Angeles as five-point favorites at Orlando.

Bulls at Pacers - 7:05 PM EST

Chicago: 1-2 SU, 0-3 ATS
Indiana: 3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS

The Bulls have failed to cover in each of their first three contests, including twice as a favorite. Chicago plays its first divisional contest at Indiana, as the Pacers are heading home with no rest following Tuesday's matchup at Detroit. The Bulls squandered a 20-point lead in Saturday's loss at Philadelphia, while scoring just 40 points in the second half of a 107-104 defeat as nine-point favorites. In two road games, Chicago has allowed 107 points in losses to Miami and Philadelphia, but the Bulls have given up over 100 points just once in the last five visits to Indianapolis.

The Pacers own one of the league's best defenses and that has resulted in three 'unders' through three games. Indiana hasn't played a team yet this season which made the playoffs last season, while allowing less than 87 points in home victories over Orlando and Cleveland. The Pacers beat the Bulls twice at Bankers Life Fieldhouse last season, as each game went 'over' the total of 178 ½ or below.

Cavaliers at Bucks - 8:05 PM EST

Cleveland: 2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS
Milwaukee: 1-2 SU, 2-1 ATS

The Cavs threw away a 23-point lead on Monday night, but Cleveland held off Minnesota, 93-92 to pick up its second victory of the season. Since cashing outright as home 'dogs in the season opener against the Nets, Cleveland has failed to cover in each of its last three contests, while finishing 'under' the total in all four games overall. The Cavs and Bucks split four meetings last season, but Cleveland covered three times, including twice at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Milwaukee rallied from two huge deficits in each of its first two road games, while managing a split at New York and Boston. The Bucks ran out of miracles in their home opening loss to the Raptors on Saturday, erasing a 13-point Toronto advantage in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell 97-90 as short 'dogs. Milwaukee hopes to get starting point guard Brandon Knight back in the lineup after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.

Warriors at Wolves - 8:05 PM EST

Golden State: 3-1 SU, 2-1-1 ATS
Minnesota: 3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS

The Warriors are expected to do big things in the Western Conference this season, as Golden State hasn't disappointed with three wins in its first four contests. Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala shot lights out in Golden State's 110-90 rout at Philadelphia on Monday, combining for 50 points in the victory. Golden State is known for its shooters, but the Warriors' defense has stepped up by limiting three of its four opponents to 94 points or less.

Minnesota's undefeated run came to a screeching halt in Monday's one-point setback at Cleveland. The Wolves fell behind early just one night after running out the Knicks in New York, as Kevin Love couldn't give Minnesota the lead on a three-point attempt in the final seconds. Minnesota is a perfect 2-0 at the Target Center, including a blowout of Oklahoma City as slim two-point favorites, although the Thunder played without Russell Westbrook. The Wolves lost all four meetings with the Warriors last season, while the final three meetings finished 'under' the total.

Mavericks at Thunder - 9:35 PM EST

Dallas: 2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS
Oklahoma City: 2-1 SU, 0-3 ATS

The Thunder has won 10 straight meetings with the Mavericks dating back to February 2012, which includes a four-game sweep in the first round of the 2012 playoffs. Oklahoma City has failed to cover a game in three tries this season, while holding off Phoenix on Sunday night as 12 ½-point favorites. The Suns led the Thunder by three heading into the final quarter, but OKC rallied by scoring 36 points in the last 12 minutes.

Dallas has taken care of its business at home with victories over Atlanta and Memphis, but the Mavs stubbed their toes in their lone road contest at Houston. The Mavs allowed 113 points in an eight-point defeat to the Rockets, in spite of attempting 27 more field goals than Houston. Dallas has found a way to cash tickets at Oklahoma City recently despite five straight losses by posting a 4-1 ATS record the last five visits to Chesapeake Energy Arena.

For the week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 3

Hottest ATS - Philadelphia 76ers (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS)

Surprise, surprise. Philly was everyone's favorite tank job heading into the season but started the season with wins over the ho-hum Miami Heat, the sexy Washington Wizards and the Derrick Rose-led Chicago Bulls. The Sixers host the high-octane Golden State Warriors Monday, followed by home games against Washington and the Cleveland Cavs. Oh. Michael Carter-Williams is good.

Coldest ATS - Memphis Grizzlies (1-2 SU, 0-3 ATS)

The Grizz are an overtime victory away from starting the campaign 0-3 SU. They started the season as road dogs in two games (at San Antonio, at Dallas) and failed to cover as 7.5-point home faves against the Detroit Pistons. The usually-reliable defense has sputtered out of the gate, allowing 106.7 points per game. Memphis will try to cash in for backers with a full week at home as the Celtics, Pelicans and Warriors stop by.

Best Over play - Dallas Mavericks (2-1 SU, 3-0 O/U)

The Mavs have started with a scorching offense that is averaging 111.3 points per game through the opening three games of the season. Add to that a defense that permits 107 points per game and you have a perfect formula for Overs. There is a possibility of some more Overs on tap for the Mavs as they host the Lakers Tuesday, the Thunder on Wednesday and the Timberwolves Friday.

Best Under play - Indiana Pacers (3-0 SU, 0-3 O/U)

A perfect start to season for the Pacers and a glorious start for an exceptionally good defense - both interior and perimeter. The Pacers are second best in the league, allowing 83.7 points per contest. They held the Cleveland Cavs to just 74 points in an 89-74 victory Saturday and through three games, the Pelicans are the only squad to reach 90 points against Indy thus far. The Pacers have a big week versus Eastern Conference foes with games against Detroit, Chicago, Toronto and Broolyn coming up.

Surveying the schedule:

- The sharp-shooting Golden State Warriors embark on a long and grueling road trip this week. The miles could take a toll on one of the league's more uptempo offenses and fatigue could play a factor which could spell betting value. The Warriors start Monday night in Philly, followed by a trip to Minnesota Wednesday, then San Antonio Friday and Memphis Saturday. All tough opponents as well.

UFC Fight Nite

Carmouche vs. Davis

Wednesday, November 6 – 8:30 p.m. ET
Fort Campbell, Kentucky
Liz Carmouche (8-3) vs. Alexis Davis (14-5)

Women's bantamweight bout
Line: Carmouche -240, Davis +180
Two top contenders in the women’s bantamweight division square off at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 on Wednesday night as Liz Carmouche takes on Alexis Davis in a battle of very skilled fighters.

After losing three straight matches, Carmouche bounced back at UFC on FOX 8 on July 27 by knocking out Jessica Andrade in the second round. Carmouche is one of the most famous women fighters in MMA, having fought against Ronda Rousey at UFC 157 in the first ever women’s match in UFC history. She is a very strong fighter who is at her best when she is able to take the match to the ground and start throwing punches. She will need to use that strength to her advantage, as she is going up against a very formidable opponent in Alexis Davis. While Carmouche is looking to deliver the knockout, Davis is in great physical shape, with the ability to submit her opponent in dominating fashion. In her first ever UFC match against Rosi Sexton on June 15, Davis won by way of decision.

While Carmouche is the more known fighter, the underdog DAVIS is very tough, and she will prove that by getting the victory.

Of Davis' 14 carries victories, seven have come by way of submission. She also has five victories by way of decision, with just two wins by knockout. Despite the lack of knockout power, Davis uses her strikes very well to wear out her opponents. She lands 6.12 strikes per minute, a significant advantage when compared to Carmouche’s 4.4. One thing Davis must make sure she does is utilize her great takedown defense. The Canadian native Davis has the overwhelming advantage in takedown defense with a percentage of 67% compared to Carmouche’s 43%, but her takedown accuracy (17%) is nowhere near as effective as Carmouche (42%). If the 29-year-old Davis is able to dictate the fight and use her cardio advantage, she should be in a great position to pull off the upset. However, Carmouche, who has the same 5-foot-6, 135-pound build as Davis is fighter that will not back down.

Five of Carmouche’s eight victories have come by way of knockout, with two submission wins and just one coming by decision. "Girlrilla" has gone up against the very best in the sport, and will definitely bring her A-game into this fight. She is outstanding with her takedown abilities, averaging 2.63 takedowns per fight compared to just 0.38 for Davis. A Lafayette, LA native who fights out of San Diego, the 29-year-old Carmouche is a very calculated fighter, who never wastes an opportunity to strike. With her five knockout wins, she has shown the ability to land the devastating punch, and will try to get Davis to turn the fight into a brawl. Both of these fighters have a great opportunity to move up the rankings, so expect a close and entertaining fight on Wednesday night.

Nover

WAS (-130) Hilton vs 508 PHI

Analysis:
The winless Wizards are already desperate for a victory. They have been idle since Sunday and won't lack for motivation in this early-season revenge game.

The 76ers have been the surprise talk of the league reeling off three wins to open the season, including shocking the Heat and Bulls. But the 76ers' bubble burst in a big way during their last game, a 20-point home loss to the Warriors two days ago.

The Wizards have a far stronger backcourt with John Wall and Bradley Beal than the 76ers and a better bench. Philadelphia's reserves are being outscored by three points a game despite the team's early success.

It's a plus for the Wizards if Nene is able to play. He's been out with a calf injury.

The Wizards are an emerging team that has been saddled by their traditional slow start. The 76ers have been playing way, way above their heads. I look for a correction here with the Wizards getting their first victory

FEIST

BOSTON CELTICS.

Reason: Your free pick for Wednesday, November 6th, 2013, comes in the NBA as Utah and the Celtics meet in Boston. Boston is rested and hungry to win one for their new coach. They've actually been playing good defense, 6th in the NBA in points allowed. The Celtics are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Into town comes the equally bad Utah Jazz, a team a long way from home and in a terrible situational spot, playing the second of a back to back road spot. When these teams meet the home team is 5-2-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the Jazz is 0-4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. Play the Celtics
