I have been thinking about vegas fixing games and things like that and was just throwing some numbers around
IF vegas gets a 50/50 split on wagers, of say $1million on each game
16 games = $16 million wagered
Now the winners would get $8 million and the losers would pay out $8.8 million assuming a -110 line so Vegas is up $800,00
Now we all know that does not always happen and some games have 70% of wagers on 1 team. Let's say that in those situations 50% of the time the public wins(they actually win less) so with the same $16 million it would be:
Team A wins 8 games with 70% of wagers
700,000 x 8 = $5.6 mill
330,000 x 8 = $2.6 mill
Vegas loses $3 mill
Team B wins 8 games 30% of wagers
300,000 x 8 = $2.4 mill
770,00 x 8 = $6.1 mill
Vegas wins $3.7 mill
They win either way right?? Now include lines of -115 and -120 and they are pulling in even more cash. Also on games where over 70% of wagers are on 1 side they make even more dough. So my question is why would they fix games if they are guaranteed to make a profit?? Why be greedy and have a chance to lose it all. You must also include all the money they make in the casinos as well. Also I took into account the public actually winning 50% of the time but i think it's some where around 48%
Vegas doesnt fix the games...
it is players throwing them or officals.
Vegas makes there money.
It is the people on the outside doing it.
If you think that it doesnt happen you are wrong. I used to know a guy and was on the right side and if you knew that watching the game you could tell it was fixed.
Other than that you would never know...
Think about this who ever questions the officals?
I bet if there was a way to track it there would be certain crews that always cover the number.
I have to ask this, but has anyone else here lately noticed the lack of replay when a potentially horrific call happens? Like last night when Carr pulled down the UCLA Corner. You never actually saw anything but Carr catching the ball. You see that alot during NFL games too, I remember the Pats/Colts game this year when a receiver was pushed out of bounds with 2:30 left in the first half and the clock never stopped. No mention of it, though. Pay close attention to the games you watch and some of the odd things that happen. It makes you wonder sometimes....
Bwell,
I have noticed that also. It seems like they dont want to show the replays at all and want to just forgot about it. Like it never happened.
Its been happening in the pros and colleges, pretty weird.
I was just trying to show u that Vegas doesn't have to fix games. That doesn't mean that games are not fixed. Sometimes the league steps in to make sure they get what they want. I'm sure the "MOB" or organized crime must have some sort of influence in the sports forum.
A couple of weeks ago I had the under in the first half with DAL/NO game and all of a sudden crazy things started happening with the clock and some really weird calls that I have never seen before happened. But is that not part of sports?? You have to remember the refs are people too. How many times have u seen an athlete screw up?? It happens to refs as well.
