10/4 Plays (MLB + CFB + NHL)

Hey guys NHL season is here and NBA is just around the corner - one of the better times of the year! Wouldve posted earlier but had some virus/spyware issues that pissed me off for quite a bit but now it's under control. Good night in baseball yesterday, but terrible call in the CFB game - sorry if my play influenced you..

MLBP: 4-1 (80%) +15.16
CFB: 12-9-1 (57%) +16.12
NHL: 0-0
*1 Unit = 1% of bankroll

Oakland Athletics at Minnesota Twins

Esteban Loaiza vs Boof Bonser

Oakland did the unthinkable yesterday and beaet Santana on the road, as Minnesota had a less than inspiring showing in front of the home crowd. Nothing changes today, as I have Oakland with about a 68% chance of winning, so we are getting lots of line value with the odds that are given (+141). Just becaue Minnesota may feel that they stole one from the Twins yesterday they won't hold back any more today. Minnesota's lost six straight home playoff games, and they send a rookie out on the mound to try to save the season for them. What a perfect situation to take the A's.

Esteban Loaiza was the pitcher of the month for September (4-0 1.48). Bonser tries to overpower hitters and against a HR hitting team like Oakland, that's not a good idea. He pitched against Oakland once, and gave up three HRs and lost 4-0. This has the feel of a high-scoring game early and Loaiza pitches good enough to outduel Bonser and go back to Oakland with a 2-0 lead. Three easy plays on this game as Oakland dominates Bonser early.

(All lines from Pinnacle)
Oakland Athletics +142 - 5 Units to win 7.1 Units
Oakland Athletics (Team Total) Over 4 -117 - 5.85 Units to win 5 Units
Pitcher Props - Who will pitch more innings?
Esteban Loaiza -112 - 5.6 Units to win 5 Units

NHL Day 1

Couple of plays, but don't want to bet heavy so early in the season. All my wagers are OT included.

Buffalo Sabres +123 - 3 Units to win 3.69 Units
Colorado Avalanche -116 - 3.48 Units to win 3 Units

Rest of plays later. Looks like Mets pitcher finally settled so will start looking at that game now. Bring it home!

CFB Play

Central Florida at Marshall

Both teams treat this as a big rival game as they kick off C-USA play. I fully expect this to be an ugly smash-mouth hard-fought game. Both teams have good running backs and love to run the ball (Marshall - 59% of the tie, UCF - 51% of the time) and not very good quarterbacks. Let's look at the matchups.

CFlorida Offense vs Marshall Defense:

3 Yards per Rush Off vs 4.8 Yards Allowed per Rush Def
5.7 Yards per Pass Off vs 7.5 Yards Allowed per Pass Def

Marshall Offense vs CFlorida Defense:

4.5 Yards per Rush Off vs 3.5 Yards Allowed per Rush Def
5.9 Yards per Pass Off vs 9 Yards Allowed per Pass Def

I guess the only clear mismatch you can see is the Marshall passing offense vs the CFlorida passing defense. Marshall is the more run-heavy team here, so when they do pass they MAY have success.. except that there will be swirling winds at the stadium tonight (about 15 mpH) that will hinder any passing attack these teams hope to have. Past matchups between these two teams (and quarterbacks - last time these two rival players face each other) yielded scores like 23-13 and 20-3. It also doesn't help scoring that there will be thunderstorms later in the game, probably around the start of the third quarter. There's a reason both teams are 1-3 - they really can't score when they want to.

UCF/Marshall Under 44 -102 - 5.1 Units to win 5 Units

Be back later with the other MLB games, still undecided about the Dodgers game. Best of luck with your wagering choices.

Adding..

NY Mets -127 - 3.81 Units to win 3 Units

No time for a writeup like the other game but hope to get one in for the Yankees game. BTW, silly little prop on Loaiza lost, game not going exactly how I envisioned..

2-1 +6.5 Units on the early game. Here's the Yankees writeup:

Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees

Justin Verlander vs Mike Mussina

Nothing has changed in this game from yesterday. The Tigers still can't beat good teams and the Yankees continue to excel in big games. As a matter of fact, I expect Mussina to outperform Wang from last night, due to his playoff experience. He has been very consistent in the playoffs throughout his career, with 20 starts and a 3.30 ERA. Much like Nate Robertson yesterday, Verlander is young and without any playoff experience.

The wind is blowing straight out to center at about 12 mpH and I think this favors the Yankees, who are more of a power team. Looking at the umpires, we have Laz Diaz behind the plate who is 24-11 favoring the home team. Verlander has been on a bit of a slide, giving up 14 runs in 14 IP in his last three starts. Mussina has gone the other way - 5 ER in 23 IP, and this difference will be magnified by the playoff experience (or lack thereof). Yankees hitters are a combined 7 for 18 against Verlander, while Tigers are 44-180 (0.244) against Mussina. Yanks all the way:

New York Yankees -1.5 -112 - 5.6 Units to win 5 Units

Updated Record:
MLBP: 6-2 +21.66

Enjoy the night!

Big E

I guess taking the 1.5 on the dogs would be the way to go, but that sucks that you're at a book that doesn't offer moneylines for such a major sport. On a side note, betonusa.com got a D- from Sportsbook Review, and with all the legal stuff going on, you may want to take your money out of there before they may shut down all the sudden.. and switch to one of the top books (Pinnacle, CRIS, Olympic)
